Over the past decades, we have already experienced dramatic cost implications resulted from extreme weather events. With climate change, such events are likely to become more frequent and more intense.
In response, the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) was established with the goal of efficient capital allocation in the transition of low-carbon economy. The TCFD has developed voluntary recommendations on climate-related information that companies should disclose on mainstream financial filings. The recommendations are designed by the market and for the market to help investors to make sound financial decisions in the changing world.
This roundtable will cover the “what”, “why” and “how” around the topic:
- Overview of TCFD and its adoption in Europe and Asia
- The development and regulatory aspects of TCFD in Hong Kong
- Recommendations for investors on the implementation of TCFD in Hong Kong
