Organisations and societies are increasingly challenged to enhance their sustainability and resilience. Innovation is central to enhancing the sustainability of the shared human, social and environmental capital that our economic and financial systems depend upon. The United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) list 16 substantive goals for ending extreme poverty and hunger, improving human well-being, and reversing the worst of environmental degradation.
The SDGs also list a unique 17th goal. “Partnerships” (that bridge the private, public, and civil society sectors) were named as the means for achieving the other 16 ambitious SDGs. Cross-sector partnerships enable more efficient use in a resource-constrained world. They can also unleash innovative new approaches and perspectives to unlock untapped resources and uncover new forms of value.
The Tri-Sector Forum 2018 will showcase how cross-sector partnerships are innovatively addressing Glo-cal challenges – ones that each nation faces, but that are also shared in many other parts of the world. The forum’s panel discussion and the students’ presentations will also address issues of inclusiveness and equity, as these are essential to the sustainability of our societies and systems.
