In partnership with Kemenparekraf, AVPN aims to build the social investment ecosystem in Indonesia. Through a series of convenings, we will provide opportunities for social investors to connect, learn, and act on building back a strong foundation for Indonesia. We invite funders and resource providers to join us in taking a deep dive into the local ecosystem while exploring how we can build the social economy on a regional scale.

The first convening in this series will focus on social entrepreneurship, social impact & investment readiness. Recognising the growing importance of impact and sustainability, impact investing in Indonesia is on the rise. To build a strong pipeline of impact investing deals, social entrepreneurship must also grow in tandem. As such, the development of social enterprises in Indonesia is critical. AVPN will bring diverse stakeholders together – including investors and entrepreneurs – to assess the outlook of social entrepreneurship and impact investing in the country, and where the growth opportunities are to nurture the ecosystem.

Dondi Hananto
Partner,
Patamar Capital

Dondi is a Partner at Patamar Capital, an early-stage venture capital investor focusing on impact businesses in Asia. He was one of the first Indonesians to work in early-stage investing since 2011, in addition to launching a startup accelerator focusing on impact businesses. To jumpstart the Indonesian entrepreneurship ecosystem, he was also involved in setting up Jakarta’s first co-working space in 2013. He has extensive experience in the banking industry, managing retail, micro, and SME lending portfolios. This experience gave him a lot of insights about the problems faced by the mass market segment and micro entrepreneurs, and the impact that can be created by businesses tackling these issues.
Emilia Setyowati

Emilia is a chairperson of Un-Ltd Indonesia business incubator assisting early-stage social enterprises in Indonesia, consultant and mentor with 15+ years of experience in community development, women empowerment, social enterprise, and MSMEs. Emilia currently serves as a commissioner in organic products and certification company and President of Indonesia Organic Alliance, Emilia has hands-on experience in managing a profitable and environmentally sustainable business.

She has delivered training to small businesses including to refugees where she works with UNHCR. She has also designed and developed training modules for MSMEs where gender and environmental consideration are heavily mainstreamed. Her strong commitment to promote gender equality has been evident in many of her careers. With alumni of Global Women in Management (Women Lead International), she founded “Gerakan Wanita Indonesia Memimpin (Movement for Indonesian Women to Lead)” to help micro and small women enterprises to develop their business. She incorporates mentoring as part of her approach in helping small businesses to grow.
Adrian Gunadi

Adrian Gunadi has over 18 years of foreign and local banking experience and strong specialisation in Islamic Finance, with last 6 years experience as Managing Director – Retail Banking for Indonesia’s second largest Islamic Bank with over 35% of market share. A serial entrepreneur with a passion for social entrepreneurship, philanthropy and sports with investment in fintech, a financial digital innovation and advocacy.

 

Some of his experience are Management Trainee at Citibank; Standard Chartered, Saadiq, Dubai, UAE managing Islamic Finance; Head of the Sharia Division at Bank Permata; Director for Retail Banking Bank Muamalat; Co-Founder & CEO Investree.
Fadjar Hutomo 
Deputy Chairman of Industry and Investment,

Fadjar Hutomo is Deputy Chairman of Industry and Investment at The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy / The Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Republic of Indonesia. He supervised the Directorate of Access to Finance, Directorate of Industry Management, Directorate of Investment Management, and Directorate of Standardization and Business
Certification. In addition, Fadjar also served as Chairman of the supervisory board of state film productions since January 2021, state Film Productions is a film and content financing institution. In 2015-2019 Fadjar joined as Deputy Chairman of Financial Access at the Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy. Fadjar is concerned with financial startup, entrepreneurship, and capital development in Indonesia, especially tourism and creative economy. Fadjar studied Industrial engineering and a master in management technology at the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November, Indonesia.

Romy is a purpose-driven entrepreneur. In 2012, he decided to use his experiences as an entrepreneur to help other entrepreneurs driven by their purposes to create sustainable impact for the environment and communities. This has led him to develop experiences in supporting and working with various kinds of social purpose organizations in Indonesia and abroad.

 

He co-founded Instellar to accelerate social innovation through incubation, advisory and investment in mission-driven companies. Instellar works with international development agencies, corporate and impact investors to run incubation and acceleration programs, and various social innovation projects with partners from Australia, Korea, Thailand, Japan, and Europe. He was graduated from Iowa State University.

Daniel Marantika
Business Development Manager,

Daniel has always been interested in how financing mechanisms can improve society. His first exposure to finance was during his stint as a corporate banking analyst in one of foreign banks operating in Jakarta, where he was responsible for conducting financial analysis of the large local corporate clients. He later worked in a financial advisory field, first in several boutique financial advisory firms and then in Ernst & Young Indonesia. In the latter firm he was involved in several infrastructure projects, with one of them being the first railway project in Indonesia, and the first railway in Sulawesi Island, that was financed using Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. Daniel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Airlangga University, in Surabaya.Daniel is experienced in working across different cultures, with both private and public sector. During his free time, Daniel is an amateur runner, with participations in 5K races in and around Jakarta.
Indigo Elliott Phibbs

Indigo brings experience in communications, partnerships and learning in development finance. She supports BIDUK on implementing the monitoring, evaluation and learning strategy and developing communications capacities, including the Learn with BIDUK video series. She previously worked for Good Return in Cambodia, convening an international network of impact investment firms and supporting gender capacity-building activities with MFIs. Prior to that, Indigo worked as a research assistant at the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre at the University of Sydney and undertook pro bono work for Grameen Australia while studying. She holds a Masters of International Development Practice from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Matteo Bierschneider

Matteo Bierschneider is one of the founders of Wise Steps Indonesia and passionate about responsible tourism development. With Wise Steps Indonesia he is working on different levels ranging from local communities and tourism industry to destination managers and governments to improve the positive impacts of tourism in Indonesia. Internationally, Matteo is representing the Transformational Travel Council as an Indonesian Ambassador and is a member of Catalyst2030 with the aspiration to reach the SDG’s by 2030.

Currently, Wise Steps Indonesia is developing an online learning platform called the Wise Tourism Academy, which will act as a tool for tourism recovery and beyond that as a driver for sustainable tourism development in Indonesia.

Before Wise Steps Indonesia, Matteo worked with a local foundation for women’s empowerment through tourism, as Business and Product Development Manager as well as a Responsible Tourism Advisor for a Destination Management Company in Bali.
