AI FOR GOOD IN ASIA
Accelerating Social Impact through AI
Building a community of social investors and practitioners equipped to support ethical and impactful AI readiness and skilling initiatives throughout Asia
ABOUT
Accelerating Social Impact through AI
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly advancing across Asia, yet many in the social impact sector remain under-resourced and unprepared to harness its immense potential. Without intentional action, the risks are real: widening inequalities, missed opportunities, and deepening systemic divides.
AVPN is actively closing this gap. Our AI initiatives are designed to equip social investors and practitioners with the essential tools, insights, and networks to engage with AI ethically and effectively, driving inclusion, justice, and transformative impact across the region.
A key strategy is increasing AI readiness to accelerate impact, which involves targeted capacity-building programmes to enhance organisations' ability to improve capital deployment through AI readiness. Complementing this is a core focus on AI upskilling and reskilling initiatives. We bring together a community of funders on a collaborative platform that unites resource providers and impact leaders to explore how AI training can be developed, localised, and scaled, particularly for communities within the workforce with unmet needs.
By building foundational knowledge and fostering targeted collaboration, AVPN is ensuring that AI becomes a force for good, serving people, communities, and systems across Asia.

Demystifying Data: How To Leverage Data To Achieve Impact Goals
In an era of information abundance, organisations have immense data which could be used to inform or drive various impact initiatives. However, figuring out how to utilise data for impact is challenging. Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, despite contentions on the role they play, have already allowed the processing of data in impressive speeds that continuously help professionals generate actionable insights.
Impact Intelligence, an organisation that leverages AI to help business achieve ambitious goals, speaks about using data to amplify one’s impact and exploring ways in which the technology can be useful. Its Co-founder Niko Moesgaard and Program Manager Guliz Koldas highlight the importance of starting with information you already have and share use cases from their work where they help organisations achieve their impact goals.
Exploring How Philanthropy Could Use AI and How AI Could Use Philanthropy
The surge in the popularity and utility of artificial intelligence (AI) presents several opportunities for the philanthropic sector – both in leveraging the technology to improve ways of working, as well as playing a key role in supporting the safe development of AI.
Chris Malone, Partner at Dalberg, speaks about how philanthropy can use AI by sharing eight areas where philanthropists might use AI to transform their work, and conversely, how AI can use philanthropy by encouraging funding to go into AI research.
