Akha Ama Coffee

In 2010, Lee Ayu Chuepa from Maejantai village established “Akha Ama Coffee” as social enterprise.  Akha Ama started to work with farmers to enhance coffee quality and sustainable market. Instead of selling the cherry and parchment coffee to middlemen for a low price, the Akha Ama decided to process and market the coffee oneself, ensuring a better price for the product. The Akha Ama also decided to change to an organically sustainable system of integrated cropping system for their coffee, reducing the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides.
