Ganesha Cookstove Project

The Ganesha Cookstove Project is working to change the paradigm of clean cooking, with super-efficient biomass cookstoves designed by and for Nepali villagers.

Ganesha stoves don’t just reduce pollution and deforestation – they are also a pleasure to cook on. Users report that they love how easy the stove is to use, how well it fits into their normal cooking habits, and how tasty the food is that’s cooked on the stove. Villagers can cook the way they are used to – using the fuel they have on hand, cooking in the pots they already own, and making the food they love for their family. We cut freight costs at all levels in half by designing Ganesha stoves to collapse into a flat pack. Assembly in the field is simple, requires no tools, and takes less than 2 minutes. And strong – an assembled stove holds 100kg.

Ganesha stoves are distributed in Nepal by our partner Climate Advocacy International (CAI). CAI is leading a carbon offset project in Nepal using Ganesha stoves.
