Suvita

Suvita was founded in 2019 to increase the uptake of routine immunisations using evidence-based nudges. India is home to roughly half of the world’s unvaccinated children and suffers from the death of a child every four minutes from a vaccine-preventable disease. Furthermore, routine immunisations disproportionately affect rural areas where education rates are low, and information about vaccines may be confusing, intimidating, or difficult to access.

To address this issue, Suvita aims to increase India’s vaccination rate in a simple and cost-effective manner. They are closing the ‘awareness gap’, often the reason for missed vaccination appointments, by delivering two evidence-based programmes to encourage caregivers to vaccinate their children: the Immunisation Ambassador Model and the SMS Reminder Model. These programmes aim to overcome the barriers that these families face and ensure that they receive useful information from a trusted source at the right time.

Suvita primarily works in the Bihar and Maharashtra states of India, where one in four children do not complete their full vaccination schedule. Last year in Bihar, through the Ambassador Model, the organisation reached approximately 5,000 children, and through the SMS Model, they have reached approximately 50,000 children. Suvita aims to scale up its programmes to reach more children in Bihar and Maharashtra.

R.O.L.E. Foundation: Bali WISE

The ROLE Foundation was established in 2007 as an environmental learning and conservation project. In recognition that a large number of families outside of Bali’s apparently prosperous, tourism-driven economy live in poverty. In poor families, if parents can’t afford to all of their their children to school, it is boys education that is prioritized.

To address this, the BaliWISE component was initiated in 2011, and the Foundation’s activities were expanded to include support to poor, marginalized, and at-risk girls and young women through training and skills development. Given the importance of the tourism sector in Bali, the training focus is on hospitality. With the skills learned in the program, graduates have increased access to skilled, sustainable employment and a more secure future. Annually 120 students complete the program. Some 90% find employment within the first six months, while others open their own small businesses.

Fortify Rights

Fortify Rights is an award-winning organization supporting innovative approaches to sustainable development in Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and Bangladesh. The organisation’s work supports a conceptual shift from needs-based development to a rights-based approach – a process that empowers people through inclusion and participation. Since their founding in 2013, Fortify Rights has tangibly improved the lives of marginalized communities, in particular ethnic minorities, refugees and human trafficking survivors. Fortify Rights believes in the importance of working in close collaboration with individuals, communities, and movements pushing for change, the influence of evidence-based research and the power of strategic truth telling. They create long-term impact by relying on an innovative three-pronged strategy that includes: (1) strengthening individuals and communities; (2) monitoring and documenting injustices; and (3) engaging people with power, including the media.

CorStone

CorStone develops and provides personal resilience programs to improve well-being for youth worldwide, focusing on adolescent girls as critical change-agents in their communities.

We believe that cultivating personal resilience is a foundational step in helping youth to thrive—one which is often missing in development programs worldwide. Our evidence-based programs impact three interdependent factors in wellbeing: emotional health, physical health, and education.

Why Personal Resilience?

Research has shown that personal resilience—the capacity to ‘bounce back’ and thrive in the face of adversity—is not an innate talent or quality. Rather, it’s the result of a set of skills and supports that can be learned, cultivated, and harnessed to transcend poverty, oppression, or depression.

Amplifying self-agency, unleashing potential, and uncovering inner strengths, we focus our efforts on marginalized, economically disadvantaged, and under-served youth, giving them the tools to thrive.

Lionheart Farms (Philippines) Corp.

Our fascination is our vision, which has become the story of Lionheart. The sap harvested from the Coconut Flower is full of energy and nutrients; this raw material is the foundation of our products – from traditional coconut sugar to delicious syrup or nectar and savory coconut amino seasoning or vinegar.

In 2016 we planted our first coconut palms in Rizal, Palawan at the foot of Mount Mantalingahan facing the West Philippine Sea. Our vision to integrate all elements from the soil to the finished products has been realized in the sustainable way. Building from the ground up, gave us opportunity to do things – the Lionheart way! Adopting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we make impact and we do this in many ways. Recently Palawan Council for Sustainable Development completed UN Sustainable Assessment for Food and Agriculture recognized Lionheart Farms with a score of 4.79 out of 5.
