In each case, acceptance as a member and the class of membership awarded is determined by AVPN’s membership committee in its absolute discretion.

Pre-engagement includes three activities: sourcing, screening (including due diligence) and structuring social investment deals to build a comprehensive and balanced portfolio.
Capacity building addresses skilling, networking and mentoring of social purpose organisations to help increase the effectiveness of the organisation.
Impact assessment refers to measuring the outputs and outcomes of a social mission, which are crucial to understanding how and if social missions are being achieved.
Portfolio management looks at how to structure and balance investments across a range of social purpose organisations including when to exit.
Multi-sector collaboration examines the different collaboration constellations between the social sector, business and government. Critical practices in this area are to identify stakeholders, spot synergies between sectors and align social missions while engaging these stakeholders throughout.
