AVPN has been fast expanding our portfolio of resources and services to serve our members and the social investing community in Asia in the past 3 years since our inception and we are happy to announce some of our achievements over the past year and others that you can look forward to in the coming months. What have we been up to the past year?
The original AVPN investment showcase is back on our website with many new cases profiled by our members!
The purpose of the investment showcase is to provide a platform for AVPN members to showcase their investees and to encourage the deal sharing, co-investment and partnership among our members. All projects posted are supported by our members. Since the relaunch of the investment showcase session, it has garnered thousands of page views. 78 investees from start-up to scale up are currently displayed, covering sectors from education to aging, from poverty alleviation to clean technology.
Impact Investing has been seen as the magic bullet to solve social issues while being financially sustainable, if not profitable. Beyond the expectations and hype, performance – financially and socially – remained elusive thus far. Recently, the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) and Cambridge Associates published the “Impact Benchmark”, which aims to track a set of funds quarterly and hence establish actual financial performance data. At AVPN, we were excited to see first data and dug into the specificities. Overall we wondered how this advances our ability to solve social issues financially sustainably and what implications the financial return expectations have on impact-first ventures.

China Charity Fair (CCF) is the largest national level charity event held in China on an annual basis. The event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce, People’s Government of Guangdong Province, People’s Government of Shenzhen and China Charity Alliance.
