The Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN) was founded in 2002 in response to the growing need for more coherence in the Asia-Pacific region to build resilience among local communities through disaster risk reduction (DRR) and to mitigate the effects of climate change that have exacerbated both the frequency and impact of natural and environmental disasters. It currently has 70+ members across 18 countries and was a founder member of the now established Regional Humanitarian Partnership Week held annually in Bangkok. It has forged partnerships with many of the key actors in the region and internationally, currently having MoUs with ADPC, ALNAP, NEAR, GNDR, MapAction, ICVA, ELRHA/The Humanitarian Innovation Fund to name a few, as well as partnering with UNOCHA, UNDRR, and the Start Network, and leading mobilization of civil society in key strategic events in the region such as the Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction. With its 2030 vision towards resilient Asia, ADRRN aims to be a leading Asian representative platform on disaster resilience with increased outreach involving larger numbers of NGOs and local CSOs in the region.
