Burnet is an Australian-based medical research institute and an accredited international non-government organisation. We undertake life-changing research and health programs in the Indo-Pacific region and Africa. Everything we do is about one fundamental goal: a better, fairer, healthier world, with no-one left behind. With country offices in Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu, our research capacity extends globally.
Three institute-wide interdisciplinary thematic health programs represent the breadth of our technical skill base and foster a collaborative approach to tackling challenging global health issues. These are Health Security and Pandemic Preparedness; Disease Elimination and Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health.
Our point of difference is our technical breadth – from laboratory-based discoveries to field research, and commercialisation to development programs, we are working towards better health for all people. Our technical focuses include Discovery and Translation; Epidemiology; Data and Modelling; Community Engagement; Health Systems; and Implementation.
