Central Square Foundation (CSF) is one of India’s leading education-focused nonprofits, established in 2012 to improve learning outcomes for every child through systems led reform. CSF believes that strengthening India’s public education system – the only platform reaching India’s nearly 25 crore children – offers the greatest opportunity to achieve equitable, sustainable and large-scale impact.
CSF partners with governments to design, implement and scale evidence-based reforms across its five strategic priorities. Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), its largest workstream, supports governments to ensure every child acquires foundational reading and numeracy skills by Grade 3. Early Childhood Education (ECE) helps states institutionalise high-quality pre-primary education through Bal Vatikas so children enter school ready to learn. School Governance supports independent school regulation and the public disclosure of school quality and learning outcomes, empowering parents and communities to engage with schools and strengthen accountability. EdTech & AI harnesses technology to improve teaching and learning by supporting innovative solutions, generating evidence, developing public goods and enabling government adoption at scale. High Potential Students (HPS) identifies and nurtures talented students from underserved backgrounds, helping them access pathways to excel and become future leaders.
Today, CSF works across 15 states and one Union Territory, partnering with governments and ecosystem stakeholders to build an education system where every child can learn and thrive.
