ChorogUsan for Children, established in 1948, is one of Korea’s most trusted child welfare organizations, committed to its mission of “Creating a world where children are happy.”
The name “Chorog” (Green) symbolizes vitality and growth, while “Usan” (Umbrella) represents protection and dreams. Guided by this philosophy, we work not only to support individual children, but to improve the systems and environments that shape their lives.
ChorogUsan operates the largest child-focused support network in Korea, with 19 regional offices and specialized institutions including welfare centers, foster care support centers, child protection agencies, and directly managed facilities nationwide. Supported by more than 580,000 donors, we reach children in underserved and structurally vulnerable situations across the country.
In 2025, we provided integrated services in childcare, education, healthcare, and housing support—ensuring both immediate protection and sustainable pathways toward independence.
Beyond direct services, ChorogUsan actively advances child-centered policy reform. Grounded in field-based evidence, we engage in research, public campaigns, and legislative advocacy to strengthen Korea’s child protection and welfare systems.
The nationwide “PILL-Board” campaign is one example of this approach. By raising awareness of young caregivers and identifying more than 2,240 affected children, the initiative elevated the issue to the national agenda and supported broader policy discussions. These collective efforts contributed to the enactment of related legislation in the National Assembly in February 2025.
