Church World Service (CWS) is a faith-based international non-governmental organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster with a vision where all have food, voice and a safe place to call home. CWS adheres to all guidelines for humanitarian assistance mandated by the International Committee of the Red Cross. CWS has a long relationship with the Sphere project, a common set of international standards used in disaster response. Both set a strong mandate for appropriate standards in providing humanitarian assistance and specifically prohibit proselytizing. Employee well-being is central to our culture, with a focus on balance between work-life, mental health, and a positive, inclusive work environment. CWS focuses on six priority practice areas including Food Security & Livelihoods, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Emergency Preparedness, Response & Recovery, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) & Climate Change Adaption (CCA), and Refugee Resettlement, Migrant Protection & Assistance. CWS has worked in Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand) since the 1970s, helping people meet basic needs and realize their right to a dignified life. Our focus is on vulnerable people in rural communities.
