The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving the consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition.
For over two decades, GAIN’s programmes have delivered local impact and inspired policy change at national and global levels. Our work focuses on transforming food systems to deliver better diets for everyone, with key programme areas including large-scale food fortification, nutrition enterprise development, social protection, workforce nutrition, food systems governance, and consumer demand generation.
Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, GAIN operates country offices across Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Benin, with representative offices in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States. GAIN works in partnership with governments, businesses, and civil society to drive systemic change. To date, our programmes have directly reached over one billion people worldwide, making GAIN one of the leading global organisations dedicated to ending malnutrition in all its forms.
