The genesis of IIHMR University dates to October 5, 1984, when its sponsoring body, the Indian Institute of Health Management Research, was established and registered as a nonprofit Society under the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act 1958. The institute is dedicated to improving the standards of health through better management of health care and related programmes. It seeks to accomplish this through management research, education, training, consultation, and institutional networking in a national and global perspective.
In 2014, IIHMR University was established and incorporated as a postgraduate research university by the Government of Rajasthan vide the IIHMR University, Jaipur Act, 2014 (Act No. 3, of 2014). The University is governed and managed by the Board of Management as per the provisions of the IIHMR University Act 2014. The University comprises five specialized schools: • Institute of Health Management Research (IHMR) • School of Pharmaceutical Management (SPM) • ML Mehta School of Development Studies (ML-SDS) • S. D. Gupta School of Public Health (SDG-SPH) • School of Digital Health Academic Programs Academics is one of the most significant activities of the University. By the provisions of the IIHMR University Act of 2014, there is an explicit mandate for postgraduate education, especially in the disciplines enlisted in Section II of the Act.
IIHMR University offers the following postgraduate programs: MBA (Hospital and Health Management), MBA (Pharmaceutical Management), MBA (Development Management), and MBA (Healthcare Analytics). The MPH program is offered by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in cooperation with IIHMR University, Jaipur. IIHMR University offers an MPH(Implementation science) Program under the WHO-TDR post-graduate training scheme with full academic scholarship support. IIHMR University offers Ph.D. Programs in public health, health management, hospital management, digital health and development studies.
In addition, IIHMR University offers Executive Education Programs, including Executive MBA, Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Hospital Administration (MHA), and specialised programs in CSR & ESG management.

Executive Development Programs (EDPs/MDPs) IIHMR University conducts extensive executive training and capacity-building programs for professionals from the government, NGOs, and the private sector across more than 40 countries. Collaborations & Industry Engagement IIHMR University has established strong global collaborations with institutions such as Johns Hopkins University (USA), University of Manchester (UK), University of Montreal (Canada), Management and Science University (Malaysia), MENDEL University, Bron, Czech, Rajasthan University, Bryant University, and others. The University actively promotes industry-academia interaction through masterclasses, guest lectures, field visits, and alumni engagement, ensuring practical exposure and real-world learning. Recognitions IIHMR University is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India. IIHMR University, Jaipur, is also recognized as the Host Institute (HI) by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, for implementing the incubation component under the MSME innovative scheme. IIHMR University, Jaipur, is the “Mentoring Institute” for the Institute of Public Health (Constituent Institution of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences) in the execution of the Master of Public Health (MPH) program. As a mentor institute, faculty from IIHMR University facilitates teaching and academic planning. Additionally, IIHMR University is recognized under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Scheme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and conducts international training programs for participants from various countries, contributing to global capacity building in health management and public health.
