Make A Difference (MAD), a Goa based NGO, works with children in need of care and protection (CNCP). The award-winning NGO started from Kochi in 2006 was co-Founded by Jithin C Nedumala who is its current CEO. MAD provides an 18-year intervention to children in need of care and protection through a unique volunteer driven model to help them break out of the cycle of intergenerational poverty within a single generation. Through more than 3,000 pro bono volunteers, MAD successfully impacts the lives of 3,500 children annually.
In the next 10 years, MAD aims to impact 1,00,000 children. Through its four key programmes – Ed Support, Foundational Programme, Transition Readiness & Aftercare – MAD provides children and developing adults in the age range of 10–28 years a strong support network and a secure emotional environment until they achieve a stable middle-class outcome. In order to provide this age-appropriate developmental and progression support, MAD has created a community-powered social-protection system which is both high-touch and scalable. Through its innovative decentralized funding mechanism, MAD presently delivers its intervention at a cost of $20 per beneficiary per month, which is expected to drop to less than $5 at scale.
