The Multicultural Leadership Initiative (MLI) is dedicated to fostering inclusivity and amplifying underrepresented voices in the global climate movement. Headquartered in Oceania, with an expanding presence in Asia and South America, MLI champions leadership from Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.
Our core approach revolves around subgranting, accelerating, and accompanying grassroots and community-based organisations. We provide financial resources, capacity-building support, and tailored guidance to ensure local leaders have the tools and autonomy to implement impactful, culturally relevant solutions. By doing so, MLI strengthens the ability of these organisations to address the challenges of climate change while preserving their unique cultural heritage.
Through advocacy and strategic partnerships, MLI also bridges gaps between local efforts and global climate action, ensuring that regional perspectives and knowledge systems are fully integrated into decision-making. As we expand in Asia, we aim to collaborate with networks like AVPN to scale these efforts, fostering cross-regional learning and supporting a just, community-driven energy transition.
Together with local organisations, we are accelerating inclusive climate solutions and building a more equitable, sustainable future.
