Sesame Workshop is the nonprofit media and educational organization behind Sesame Street, the pioneering television show that has been reaching and teaching children since 1969. We’re active in more than 150 countries, serving vulnerable children through a wide range of media, formal education, and philanthropically-funded social impact programs, each grounded in rigorous research and tailored to the needs and cultures of the communities we serve.
Sesame Workshop’s mission is to help children everywhere grow, smarter, stronger, and kinder. Our social impact work focuses on the needs of the most vulnerable children by providing access to early education, critical health lessons, and tools for tough situations. We reach children through local versions of Sesame Street like India’s Galli Galli Sim Sim, Bangladesh’s Sisimpur, South Africa’s Takalani Sesame, and Afghanistan’s Baghch-e-Simsim.
Our programs in the US include See Amazing in All Children, which helps to reduce the stigma around autism and provides tools to help families touched by autism with everyday activities, Sesame Street in Communities harnesses the power of Sesame Street to help parents and providers engage with kids, and Sesame Street for Military Families that addresses a range of challenges including deployment, homecoming, injuries, grieving, resilience and the transition to civilian life.
