STiR Education is an international NGO that supports education systems to reignite intrinsic motivation in teachers and officials through teacher networks. They align and galvanize all levels of education systems around a core goal of increasing and sustaining intrinsic motivation. They believe that better motivated teachers could make the single biggest difference to the global learning crisis. By giving teachers and officials a sense of Autonomy (that they can change things), Mastery (that they are getting better as professionals) and Purpose (that they feel connected to peers and to the children for whom they are responsible), they can fall in love with teaching again.
STiR works through 5-year system learning partnerships with state and national governments. This year, they are impacting more than 200,00 teachers and 6 million children across 4 Indian states (Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu) and the national education system in Uganda. With strong encouragement from the national government, STiR aims to provide 40 million Indian children with a teacher who loves teaching by 2025. By 2030, STiR hopes to reach 300 million children globally. And in doing so, to make a significant contribution to the achievement of SDG 4.
