The Akanksha Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to build one of the largest network of innovative schools that empowers children to maximise their potential and that influences systemic reform.
Our story began 30 years ago with after-school centres. Today, Akanksha supports 14,000 students through the formal-school education program and 4,000 alumni from low-income backgrounds across Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. Our 26 schools run from kindergarten to grade 10 in partnership with municipal corporations and no fee is charged to the student. Going forward, we seek to expand our network of schools through public-private partnerships, share our effective practices and advocate for school reform for children across India.
