Originally launched as a fundraising campaign in 2013, The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) was established as a full-fledged foundation in 2015 following the success of various initiatives led by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
Her Highness was appointed as UNHCR’s first Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children in May 2013, where she played a vital role in increasing public awareness about refugees and the work of UNHCR, with a particular focus on children. Her unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts is reflected in her extensive charitable work and fundraising initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of those affected by war, especially women and children.
Today, TBHF operates with a mandate to protect and empower vulnerable children and their families worldwide. Since its inception, the foundation has provided health, education, and emergency aid services—among others—to nearly 5 million people across more than 30 countries.
