The Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in Taiwan in 1988. Starting from providing a safe haven for young girls caught up in the sex industry and expanding to one of the largest organizations in Taiwan that provides services such as women’s shelters, drop-in centers, counseling, temporary housing, employment training, social work, legal aid, and outreach programs. By providing diverse services for gender-based violence survivors, GOH works to empower women and girls to become economically independent, leave abusive environments and achieve their own goals. Moreover, GOH contributes to research and policy reform on the issue of gender-based violence. It has helped introduce and amend several key legislations on child welfare and women’s rights in Taiwan.
GOH also plays key roles in various international networks, such as the Global Network for Women’s Shelters, Asian Network for Women’s Shelters, and Asian Girls Campaign. It actively participates in international advocacy and solidarity for the rights of women and girls, along with NGO and governmental partners around the world.
