The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) works with partners in more than 50 countries, dedicated to the goal of nourishing people and the planet together. Guided by the priorities of accelerating food banks’ growth, driving innovation in food banking, expanding agricultural recovery, and spurring food system transformation; all directed at forwarding our time-tested approach to tackling hunger, food security and climate change.
Food banking offers a solution to both acute hunger and the climate crises at the same time. With a network rooted in local communities, food banks redirect surplus, nutritious food to get it to families’ tables, not landfills. Our partner food banks work with 70,000 local agencies and are supported by over 300,000 volunteers. In 2023, GFN members provided food to more than 40 million people. Increasing food access helps people thrive, creating healthy and resilient communities and preventing food loss and waste reduces emissions and protects natural resources. The Global FoodBanking Network connects communities, gathers data, shares knowledge, improves health, spurs innovation, and advances policy solutions to improve the lives of millions of people. We are fixing the global food system to operate as it should: nourishing people and planet together.
