The Max Foundation (Max) works to accelerate global health equity by ensuring that people living with cancer and other critical illnesses in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) can access the treatment, diagnostics, and care they need. For nearly 30 years, Max has pioneered interventions that bridge the gap in access to life-extending therapies, bringing innovative treatments to countries where no other pathway exists. Today, Max provides access to treatment and patient support services for 16 diseases across 80 countries, serving nearly 40,000 people annually throughout Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.
Max pairs access to treatment with comprehensive patient support – including diagnostics, education, and navigation services – while investing in long-term health system strengthening through physician training and capacity building. Because targeted therapies require precise diagnosis and ongoing monitoring, Max partners with hospitals to expand access to specialized tests. These efforts have yielded transformative impact: over the past nearly three decades, Max’s programs have become one of the largest cancer access initiatives in LMICs and helped national health systems build lasting treatment capacity.
In 2025, Max deepened our commitment to accelerating health equity by announcing a bold, five-year ambition to significantly scale programs and strengthen national care pathways so that 100,000 patients annually can access timely, high-quality cancer treatment and/or support, through investments in provider training, diagnostic services, and patient navigation. Together with our global partners, Max is proving that equitable cancer care is achievable so that people around the world can live longer, healthier lives.
