The PRAKARSA is an NGO-based think-tank in Jakarta established since 2004. Prakarsa has been working to nurture and enhance ideas and initiatives on people’s welfare through knowledge production-sharing and policy advocacy. Prakarsa combines research with policy analysis, capacity building, policy conversation, policy advocacy and transforms knowledge into actions to promote social justice and people’s welfare. Prakarsa has been working together with governments, parliaments, CSOs, universities, think-tank, private sector and mass media at local, national and global level.
Prakarsa strives on being a research institute that harnesses new ideas and transformations in welfare, through multi-party approaches and collaborative engagement to disseminate and evidenced-based policy-making processes. Prakarsa has conducted numerous researches in the field of fiscal policy, social policy, and sustainable development including research on financial inclusion and access to finance for MSEs, remittance and household economy empowerment, social and economy impacts of over-indebtedness, illicit financial flows and others.
