The AVPN Deal Share Platform was nominated as best national digital solution for Singapore for the international World Summit Awards, selecting digital innovation with impact on society. With this nomination in the Category Inclusion and Empowerment, The AVPN Deal Share Platform qualifies for evaluation by the WSA Online Jury 2017 among 391 international nominations. The World Summit Award once more showcases to the world a diameter of digital innovation, from Mexico to New Zealand, from Qatar to Germany.
The WSA nominees 2017 show the richness, diversity, future and innovation of digital solutions on a global scale and prove how digital technology can improve society on each corner of the world.
The AVPN Deal Share Platform was nominated as best national digital solution for Singapore for the international World Summit Award mobile.
Launched in 2016, the Deal Share Platform (DSP) addresses a fundamental issue that philanthropists and social investors face whilst trying to support SPOs – the financial disconnect between funders and SPOs. While funders may be willing to pledge financial and non-financial support, identifying a quality SPO is not easy. Conversely, SPOs requiring continued support to scale sustainably have challenges connecting with relevant funders.
To this end, AVPN has built a resource and funding pipeline for SPOs to gain continued resources at different growth stages. By streamlining communication about existing and prospective funding opportunities, the AVPN DSP not only increases the visibility of quality SPOs that have previously partnered with and been endorsed by funding AVPN members, but also enables members to further collaborate and co-invest in SPOs in a more targeted manner.
Complementing the Deal Share online efforts that have over 200 live deals to date, the Deal Share Live sessions highlight interesting and successful projects in Asia supported by our members to the wider community at AVPN events. These sessions give investors and investees exposure and visibility to other grant-funders, impact investors and possible partners in the region. It is also an opportunity for us to hear from the SPOs on their implementation work, and identify how we can collaborate with each other.
The WSA 2017 nominees will be evaluated based on seven fundamentals criteria: Content, Functionality, Design, Technology, Innovation, Impact and Global/UN value.
The WSA nominees are selected carefully and highly competitive by the WSA National Experts from more than 178 UN member states. The WSA National Experts nominate up to eight projects for each country – one for every WSA category.
A nomination to the WSA hence is already and award in itself – the qualification to compete and compare on an international level and being the best practice in Inclusion and Empowerment nationally.
