The Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) is a network of close to 200 members from 28 countries who are involved in venture philanthropy and social investing in Asia. It hosts one of the region’s most influential annual conferences on social investment and venture philanthropy.
This year, the event will be held in Singapore from 20-23 April, and once again the British Council is proud to be a supporting partner.
Social investment is the provision of finance to generate both a financial return and a social impact while venture philanthropy is the combined use of financial and non-financial resources – e.g. capacity building, mentoring and operational support – to help social enterprises and other social purpose organisations to deliver beneficial social impact.
According to Doug Miller, Founding Chairman of AVPN, ‘Although Europe and America are seen as leaders in social investing methodologies and models, Asia is catching up at lightning speed!’
The event will bring together venture philanthropy and social investment leaders and supporters from Asia, North America and Europe, including private equity firms, foundations, wealth and asset managers, high net worth individuals, family offices, social impact investors, professional service firms, government representatives and universities.
The panels, workshops and breakout sessions at the conference will focus on five key areas: pre-deal processes; capacity building of social organisations; impact assessment, portfolio management and multi-sector collaboration.
The conference will also provide a platform to showcase more social enterprises funded by AVPN members.
Participation in the conference is by invitation and limited to 450 delegates. The conference is particularly targeting organisations of the type described above.
