Climate change and gender inequality are two of the most pressing issues of our time, and they are intricately connected. In Asia, climate change exacerbates existing gendered social, economic, and environmental inequalities like limited financial access, restricted land rights, and underrepresentation in decision-making, making women disproportionately vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
Recognising the crucial role women play in building climate resilience, AVPN’s Building Resilient Futures: The Intersection of Gender and Climate Action report offers a pathway to tackle both issues simultaneously, creating more inclusive and sustainable solutions to the region’s challenges. The report delves into region specific analysis that maps out climate vulnerability and gender equality data, recommends innovative financing models and solutions that can be adopted by funders to address the compounded challenges in each region.
Through this report, AVPN aims to bring philanthropic funders, blended finance investors, impact investors, and policy practitioners to create collaborative solutions that address both climate and gender challenges simultaneously through innovative and traditional financing instruments. By mobilising various forms of capital to integrate a gender lens into climate strategies, this report hopes to inspire funders to not only address the immediate challenges but also create a foundation for long-term, sustainable change.
