Impact Standards: Building a Global Consensus for a Sustainable Future

Share

In recent years there have been numerous initiatives that have been developing approaches and standards around impact measurement and management. This demonstrates the need for organisations to be able to better articulate their impact and contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).The growth of standards has created a complex landscape which has become challenging for enterprises and investors to navigate and there is a need to consolidate and be able to compare across the various standards, principles and guidance that are now available.

One standard that has gained significant traction in China, is the recently launched International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) standard for Sustainable Finance. ISO/TR 32220, this is the first International Standard published by the ISO Technical Committee on Sustainable Finance (ISO/TC 322).

Globally, the recently launched Impact Management Platform (IMP) ‘a collaboration between leading providers of public good standards, frameworks, tools, and guidance for managing sustainability impacts.’has been attempting to consolidate and align the various standards that are emerging around the world.

The webinar brought together experts involved in developing these two initiatives and explored global trends in developing impact standards as well as provided a deep-dive into developments in China.
