Foreword

The past year has been pivotal for Asia’s global leadership, hosting major multilateral convenings, such as the G20 Summit 2022 in Indonesia and 2023 in India, and the G7 Summit 2023 in Japan. Asia has solidified its role as a focal point in global development. AVPN’s presence, influence, and connections with diverse social investors have been well-placed to create further resonance and support practitioners to operationalise the outcomes of these global conversations in their practice.

Though there is much work to be done, we have made strides, bringing the region one step closer to achieving our impact goals and targets. We have achieved remarkable milestones between July 2022 to June 2023, including launching five new philanthropic funds that support various causes from youth empowerment to climate action. One of our highlights this year was to see our recommendations on creating impact pathways to bolster the care economy, developed from a year of member engagement to being included in the Malaysian government’s initiative, Malaysia MADANI.

Our Signature Events are evolving to meet the deepening needs of our members. Our AVPN Global Conference 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, welcomed the highest number of participants in our in-person convening history. We also launched our inaugural Impact Investing Day at the Conference. Additionally, we hosted regional summits in Japan and South Asia to create and sustain more connections and collaborations.

Looking ahead, we remain resolute in our mission. We are dedicated to exploring new ways to strengthen our impact ecosystem, from expanding our Impact Investing community to exploring the intersection of Faith and Giving. Excitement builds as we prepare for the AVPN Global Conference 2024 in Abu Dhabi – our first foray into West Asia.

As we move forward, I am filled with gratitude for the unwavering support of our growing community. Together, we will continue to pave the way for a more equitable, sustainable future. Thank you for standing with us on this remarkable journey.

Future Outlook
and Goals

In the coming year, AVPN is working on various exciting initiatives to mobilise more capital for impact. From exploring new connections to creating new platforms, we understand the importance of innovation and collaboration in every aspect of our work. Read more on the new initiatives you can expect from AVPN in 2023 and 2024:

Impact Investing

AVPN’s role in impact investing is to act as an ecosystem builder for key stakeholders including funders, investors, policy makers, academia, platforms, and impact projects, driving more private capital into social impact. AVPN will support funders to connect with vetted, high-impact investment opportunities, and offer educational resources to guide them in their impact investment journey.

Faith and Giving

The degree to which faith informs social investment is not yet well-understood, but the potential for faith-aligned capital to contribute to the SDGs is huge.

AVPN has launched a multi-phase initiative to map the landscape, raise awareness, and present learning opportunities for social investors to better leverage the diverse perspectives, expertise, and resources of the whole ecosystem.

Impact Platform

A cross-border platform to make data-driven philanthropy and impact funds accessible. This platform will provide donors and impact funders with the tools and resources needed to make informed decisions about their giving.

The initial phase of this platform will be designed for financial institutions in Singapore to facilitate philanthropic giving from their wealth holders to nonprofit organisations across Asia.

AVPN is the largest network of social investors in Asia

Our mission is to increase the flow and effectiveness of financial, human, and intellectual capital in Asia by enabling members to channel resources towards impact.

AVPN is a not-for-profit organisation, a registered charity in Singapore operating in compliance with the office of the Commissioner of Charities.
