AVPN Scores High for Effective Networking Opportunities

AVPN concluded our annual member survey in August and added an additional survey this time for non-members in order to reflect the Asian venture philanthropy and social investment market more accurately. As the results were reviewed, it became evident that our current members highly value and appreciate the networking opportunities that AVPN provides amongst social investors and philanthropists. They expressed their appreciation to be part of a community of like-minded investors, which also allowed them to learn from each other.The sector interests of our members were wide ranging with education, livelihood and employment and children coming out on top but also with significant interest around women’s issues, health and environment. Members were asked about their key challenges in adopting venture philanthropy, and the top issues that emerged were the poor pipeline, immature market conditions, and the need for more capacity building for all stakeholders. However, most remained upbeat about the Asian market and expected more activity next year. Non-members also responded that they had the same obstacles in their work.Respondents gave their feedback on what they would like to see more of from AVPN – the primary request was for match-making services. They not only wanted to be referred to co-investors and funders, but also to qualified investee organisations. Sourcing for capable and investor-ready organisations remain a top headache for investors. As AVPN continues to develop ourselves and the industry in Asia, it is very heartening to note that most of the respondents expressed high satisfaction in our services and indicated that they would recommend joining AVPN as a member to others! We appreciate the time taken by the respondents to allow us to understand the market and our impact better.
