Mobilizing capital to improve outcomes for women and girls

Vision
A more equitable world for women and girls in Asia
Advancing gender equality in Asia-Pacific could mean an additional US$4.5 trillion or 12% of the collective annual GDP. The pandemic, however, has amplified pre-existing gender gaps. On its current trajectory, it will now take 135.6 years to close the gender gap worldwide.
Among the most promising gender-sensitive approaches have been measures that prioritise women’s labour market participation, and support for sectors with larger female representation. Nonetheless, such policies will not prove sufficient on their own accord. They must be matched to corporate and political governance structures to ensure accountability diversity, equity, and inclusivity.
