Ajay heads the Community Impact initiatives of UWM. As part of the Senior Management,  he has successfully helped in forming strategic alliances with local and state government  bodies, international organizations and other stakeholders to implement high-impact  projects in community-related issues. 
His core areas of expertise include programme development, multi-stakeholder  partnership management and community participation. Ajay has also served as the  visiting faculty for an Emergency Response Management course for the PTMBA at  NMIMS. His expertise is working on organizational strategy, development and human  resource-related matters 
Ajay earned an MA in Social Work from TISS, Mumbai, specializing in Urban and Rural  Community Development, after graduating from Nirmala Niketan. He is the alumnus of  the Global Road Safety Leadership Course, 2019 (co-organized by the Global Road Safety  Partnership and John Hopkins International Injury Research Unit. He also serves on the  POSH committee of United Way Mumbai
