David Schacht is Vice President, International at National Geographic Society. David oversees the Society’s international offices and staff in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Africa, as well as strategy development for new regions. In Asia, National Geographic Society has offices in Beijing, Seoul and Hong Kong. Prior to joining National Geographic in 2014, David founded ImpactMarkets, providing advisory services to philanthropy, institutional investors and international organizations on business strategy, executive education, economic development program design, monitoring and evaluation and market diligence for impact investment. David was Vice President of Market Linkages and Latin America at CARANA Corporation, a leading economic development consulting firm. David has an MA in International Economics and Emerging Markets Studies with Distinction from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and an AB in Economics, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Chicago.
