Meera is a Clinical Research and Public Health professional with 15 years’ experience working in the South and South-East Asia region. In her role as the project lead at the Research Division of Vital Strategies, she was responsible for the implementation of a USAID-funded phase 3 randomised clinical trial ‘STREAM’ that evaluated shortened treatment regimens for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). In her current role as deputy to the Regional Director for the Asia Pacific office, she oversees partnership and new business development for Vital Strategies’ health programs in the region. Prior to joining Vital Strategies, Meera was a Scientific Project Leader with the SPRINT-TB programme at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine where she led several regional research, laboratory strengthening, and capacity development efforts for infectious diseases. She earned her PhD in Microbiology from the National University of Singapore while undertaking her research at the Novartis Institute for Tropical Disease. Meera was born and raised in India and considers Singapore her second home.
