About

Priya Powell works for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), heading the team responsible for development finance issues – using official development assistance funding in new ways, to multiply overall investment to help achieve development outcomes in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.   She has over 15 years’ experience in designing and delivering bilateral aid programs, including through in-country leadership roles in the Australian Embassies in Bangladesh and Indonesia.
 
Before joining the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Priya worked in community development in Sydney and was as an Australian volunteer in Sri Lanka.  She studied history and politics at the Australian National University and communications management at the University of Technology, Sydney.
