About

Before switching to the education industry, Zalina spent over 15 years in both private and public sectors. 

After graduating from Cornell University with a BSc in Chemical Engineering (cum laude), she spent a majority of her next 10 years in various roles within the energy giant, ExxonMobil. She decided to change her lens and create more impact by joining the Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation as Vice President, under the Prime Minister’s department as part of the Malaysia Economic Transformation Program. The government role has taught her to see with a broader lens and it has also piqued her interest in Human Capital development. Apart from this, she has also enjoyed a stint in Talisman Energy as the Senior Commercial advisor, in charge of commercial negotiations for the production sharing contracts. 

Zalina realizes that her passion remains in the Human Capital space and Women Empowerment in the corporate world. This passion has driven her decision to be part of the Asia School of Business start-up team. Her current role is to bridge the best of both worlds – the corporate and the academic – and infect the ecosystem with the “ASB bugs”. She also continues to mentor and volunteer in activities supporting these agendas. 

When not working, she loves to read, do yoga or just be the ‘friendly teacher’ to her three kids.
