Problem

The majority of products and systems within business and government are linear in nature and do not recognise the value of materials that are being used in the production of goods and services. Furthermore, systems and designs are not moving fast enough to transition from linear to circular systems.

With this in mind, innovation is deemed key to transitioning to a circular economy, and young innovators are essential in this equation. This added exposure would help them realise the entrepreneurial and economic opportunities available in clean innovation and the circular economy.

Hence, Circular Cities Asia plans to teach and inspire young people who will be involved in the future design of systems.

Solution

At Circular Cities Asia, we have a mission to build a community that accelerates circular innovation in Asia cities. Circular cities that are smart, liveable and sustainable. We aim to teach young people the intersection between circularity and innovation and encourages them to create and test their own circular economy entrepreneurial ideas through:

  • Partnerships - We partner with universities to allow students to have a safe, city-like environment to test and scale their business ideas for optimum environmental and economic impact.

  • High Adoption Rate - Innovation skills are in high demand, and partnerships with businesses and governments would mean that these young innovators could make a difference to the future design approaches of industry and cities systems.

  • Economic Opportunities - Successful business ideas that are developed by students will also reduce waste and emissions on campus and surrounding cities and will created economic opportunities and value from waste systems.
Our impact area is specifically related to climate impact and sustainability, and our beneficiaries are communities who can benefit from regenerative eco-systems that are waste-free, sustainable and liveable
