In Northern Thailand, Hilltribe people are socially marginalized. They are mostly rice farmers and get only 1 crop per year. The family income is only about 250 USD per month, and is seasonal. The village communities are hollowing out as children leave for the cities.
It is clear that there is a pressing need to support hill tribe people in Northern Thailand to have a sustainable livelihood, and Wawee Valley Foundation has the solution for this.
Hilltribe people can earn a good life while being at the forefront of climate adaptation, mitigation and biodiversity development through the adoption of resilient, regenerative agriculture practices. The project will research, educate and disseminate best organic agriculture practice.
