Sustainable Seafood
Partnering Impact Organisation
About the Organisation
BLOOM Association Hong Kong was launched on World Ocean Day, June 8th 2009, as a non-profit organisation dedicated to marine conservation. We focus on issues that need urgent attention: the protection of vulnerable species and habitats and the promotion of sustainable fisheries. There are currently three key areas of work at BLOOM HK: endangered species and illegality in the shark fin and the dried seafood trade, seafood sustainability, and Hong Kong marine reef fish diversity research for marine protected areas.
Experience Description
Hong Kong has the second highest per capita consumption of seafood in Asia. Local fisheries have largely diminished, and 80% of our seafood is now imported. At Sai Kung, a famous locality for live seafood, we will visit seafood restaurants, the local wet market, and unusual speedboat seafood “hawkers” with a focus on recognising the species diversity and endangered species, telling apart locally caught from imported seafood, and the future of seafood sustainability for Hong Kong.
Social Housing
Partnering Impact Organisation
About the Organisation
The social housing division of St James' Settlement was established in 2017 with the aspiration and mission to advocate for the right to housing for all, promote affordable housing to alleviate economic hardship among disadvantaged populations, advocate for equitable standards, and establish a sustainable operational model for social housing.
Experience Description
Delegates will visit James’ Concourse, a social housing project in Sham Shui Po, and interact with residents residing on site as we explore how housing can act as a medium to empower lives.
Subdivided units in grassroots neighbourhood
Partnering Impact Organisation
About the Organisation
Christian Concern for the Homeless Association (CCHA) provides outreach and accommodation services to the homeless, offering support including access to centre facilities, meals, emergency supplies, and accommodation. The activity centre actively collaborates with community partners and works with various organisations to provide support and opportunities for homeless individuals, helping them to thrive and grow.
Experience Description
Delegates will explore Sham Shui Po from the lens of a former homeless person. By listening to their life journeys, we will delve into the challenges that the grassroots are facing – in particular housing – and how we might build a social safety trampoline for all.
Life and Career Education
Partnering Impact Organisation
About the Organisation
Ednovators is a non-profit education innovation organisation in Hong Kong, dedicated to expanding the horizons of education through providing leadership and innovative training for teachers, facilitating local and overseas exchanges, as well as connecting like-minded individuals across different sectors in education.
Our aim is to broaden perspectives on education and achieve local educational innovations, equipping students to face the diverse and changing future of the 21st century.
Experience Description
Delegates will visit HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity and Lok Sin Tong Yu Kan Hing Secondary School, two schools that participated in the Future Education in Action program organised by the D. H. Chen Foundation. The tour will enable participants to hear directly from the youth themselves as well as how supporting teachers’ capacity building is critical in nurturing the next generation of compassionate leaders.
