Musubie is working to create an environment where Kodomo Shokudo (children’s cafeterias) are accessible throughout Japan, offering a safe and comfortable space for anyone to visit. We also aim to create opportunities through these cafeterias that encourage broad participation in social activities to help shape the future.
Our work is focused on three main areas: Regional Network Support Projects, which assist local networks of Kodomo Shokudo; Collaborative Projects with Corporations & Partners, which provide assistance to children’s cafeterias; and Surveys and Research Projects, which gather and share data on the current state of children’s cafeterias to raise awareness.
* Kodomo means ‘child,’ and shokudo means ‘cafeteria’ in Japanese. Kodomo Shokudo offer free or low-cost meals to children, but refer to community-led initiatives that not only provide meals but also create inclusive spaces that bring together people of all ages.
Regional Network Support Projects
We support the activities of area networking groups that sustain Kodomo Shokudo. By collaborating with local area networking groups, we facilitate support for the establishment of Kodomo Shokudo, network building among operators, cooperation with local municipalities and relevant organizations, mediation of donated items, and provision of information.
Collaborative Projects with Corporations & Partners
We collaborate with companies, organizations, and others who wish to support Kodomo Shokudo, and engage in activities to enhance the safety and security of children’s cafeterias and provide programs that offer various experiences for children.
Surveys and Research Projects
To ensure that Kodomo Shokudo become a social norm and that more children have access to them, we conduct necessary research and investigations. The findings of these studies are utilized to expand the understanding of children’s cafeterias within the community and society, and to realize appropriate systems and policies.
