A Fast Growing Social Investment Ecosystem

Yayasan Hasanah, the foundation of Khazanah Nasional, the Malaysian government’s sovereign wealth fund, has been a pioneer in driving forward the development of social investment in Malaysia. AVPN is excited to bring the annual conference to Kuala Lumpur for the first time. Yayasan Hasanah’s own annual flagship event, The Hasanah Forum, will take place alongside the AVPN Global Conference, offering delegates an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Malaysian social investment context and its position within the wider Asia Pacific region.

AVPN Global Conference 2023 will bring together leaders from Asia and beyond, to collectively envision an impact future that is inclusive, equitable and sustainable. Importantly, this convening will be an opportunity to build the trust between social investors, philanthropists and community impact leaders that will be the essential ingredients for Asia’s success.

Through the three days, delegates will have the opportunity to explore key issues that impact the region and develop collaborative partnerships that lead to action.

Overarching Themes

AVPN has always championed Asian voices and driven an Asian development narrative over the last 10 years. This year, we want to spotlight the transformative potential of collaboration, through four overarching themes:

Transformational Collaboration
Over the last decade, AVPN has brokered collaboration between holders of capital, across geographies, and across sectors of action, that have resulted in effective cross-border partnerships and changed the trajectory of social investment in Asia. We believe the next decade of action and delivering the SDGs rests with Asia, and for that, we need to see transformational collaborations, both within and outside of Asia, led by the Asian social investment community.
Asian Leadership
A truly Asian development narrative will not be delivered without the required Asian leadership, both from the private sector as well as from policy makers and influencers. With Indonesia and India’s (upcoming) G20 Presidency, along with regional forums such as ASEAN, we are seeing the importance of and the power of Asian Leadership to develop the roadmap for better and bolder policy reforms in social investment and sustainable finance. AVPN 2023 will be an opportunity for Asian leaders from the sector to converge, ideate, and highlight hotspots and critical challenges that demand concerted and collaborative action.
Empowered Communities
We believe that placing emphasis on local solutions and spotlighting community-led and owned initiatives have the remarkable potential to solve for Asian issues, while being scalable and relevant to the needs of the Asian demographic.
Urgent Action
AVPN 2023 will be an opportunity for the global social investment community to come together to build partnerships that will lead to action. The programme design will ensure that as a community we can build innovative and ambitious initiatives that will lead to impact.
