Women Organizing for Change in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management (WOCAN)

WOCAN is a women-led international membership network of over 1000 women and men professionals in 105 countries, that provides expertise to assist organizations achieve women’s empowerment objectives and mainstream gender into their internal structures, programs, projects and policies. Our mission is to achieve women’s equal access to and control of resources and benefits to improve the livelihoods of rural people.

WOCAN is the owner and developer of the W+ Standard for Women’s Empowerment, a certification system that measures outcomes for women related to health, income/assets, time, leadership, food security and education/knowledge. WOCAN’s global network of members provides skills in capacity building, leadership training, gender integration, monitoring and evaluation, and the application of the W+ Standard. Countries of current operations include: Nepal, Indonesia, Thailand, Cameroon, Kenya, South Africa, Lao PDR.
