Established in 2007, Educate Girls (EG) aims to achieve behavioral, social and economic transformation for all girls in India’s gender gap and educationally backward. EG mobilizes public, private, and community resources to provide quality education to a large number of beneficiaries at an extremely low cost and avoids duplication or parallel delivery of services.
EG has metamorphosed from a 500-school pilot in 2007 into a 21,000+ schools program spread across 12,500+ villages. Since inception, EG has enrolled over 200,000 girls and over 650,000 children have demonstrated improved learning outcomes. Presently, EGs operations cover 14 districts across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
EGs’ codified program model and robust technology enabled monitoring and evaluation has time and again proven the effectiveness of the organization’s intervention. In 2015, EG with UBS Optimus Foundation and Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, launched the world’s 1st Development Impact Bond (DIB) in the education sector. The DIB is currently operational in 166 schools across Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, India and impacts 15,000 direct beneficiaries.
Combined with EGs’ longstanding experience of working in primary education (Grades 1-8), EG is extending its intervention into secondary education (Grades 9-10). Starting 2017, EG is piloting community and in-school interventions for secondary school students for 2 years (2017-19) with over 4,500 beneficiaries in 111 villages of Ajmer district of Rajasthan
